Merry Christmas!

Silent Night Lullaby
Sleep little Baby, sweet little Baby,
The sky is alight with one star shinging brightly.
The air's filled with music, a song on the breeze.
All nature in harmony echoes the peace,
And the angels of heaven are singing Thy praise...
So, slumber, my sweet Little Baby.

 (oops!!)

~ The composer is actually Darren Major

A version of this sheet music can be found at
https://www.quarternote.club/christmas

It does not, however, have the two part descant that the
original version he wrote had on it.

I am so sorry I had the wrong composer on there until today!
October 20, 2019!!

"And there were in the same country shepherds,
abiding in their fields and watching over their flocks by night.
And Lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them,
and the Glory of the Lord shown 'round about them,
and the angel said unto them,
"FEAR NOT! for behold I bring you good tidings
of great joy which shall be to all people!
For unto YOU is born this day, in the City of David,
a Savior, which is Christ the Lord..."

"And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of
heavenly hosts praising God and saying,
"GLORY TO GOD IN THE HIGHEST!
and on earth peace....good will toward men"

Family Traditions hold us and carry us, remind us and renew us. My birth family tradition that has become my own family's Christmas Tradition is Christmas Caroling on Christmas Eve. I have done it as long as I can remember and my family cannot do without it....it is as much a part of us as breathing....

We love to sing and harmonize the songs celebrating the birth of the Savior and once again tonight we enjoyed it, even though there were few of us. I love my sister, and her family who we go with each year that we are together. And our harmonies are much more beautiful with all of us together.

The verse at the top is sung simultaneously with "Silent Night" and it is a beautiful arrangement that we sing every Christmas. Tonight I was priveledged to recite this section of scripture, the full extent of it, while my family and extended family hummed in 3 part harmony the second verse to Silent Night. My father always recited it when I was growing up, but if I could learn it "by heart", he said he would let me recite it while caroling. So, I worked hard to please my father and he allowed me to recite it. I have been able to recite it ever since. After my father passed away in 1993, my family let me be the one to recite it while Christmas Caroling. In turn, my son memorized it and has been able to recite it, at about the age of 8 he started doing that. This year, at the age of 20, he is on a mission to tell the people of Brazil about Jesus Christ and the difference His life and atonement can make in their lives. He has had the opportunity to recite these scriptures during the second verse of Silent Night in Portuguese. He loves music and sharing his testominy of the Savior.

I am so grateful for my Father, for my Son, for my Heavenly Father and for His Son, Jesus Christ. I am grateful to be blessed with a love of music, and a desire to praise the Lord of heaven and earth with song!

Happy Christmas to you and yours! May the songs of Christmas tug and tighten your heartstrings around you and your loved ones, blood family or adopted family. And may we tie ourselves to God and our Savior, Jesus Christ, who loved us first!

Christmas Hearts to You,
Betsy

  2. Hi Betsy!!
You just made my day with your sweet comments!
I want you to know that although I've spent a lot of time getting my room in order and trying to get it to be something pretty, it was a labor of love and took a lot of ingenuity! I first only used my space as a scrapbooking and cardmaking space, but quickly found that I had to have my sewing machine in there, and then because I wanted the fabrics and laces in there....well let's just say it grew!
The fabric covered sewing boxes were found mainly on ebay or etsy...and it took many months to get even a few of them found and purchased. They are getting more scarce it seems to me, and more expensive! I hope you'll be able to locate some...try searching for them using the words 'fabric covered box', 'material covered box', 'fabric sewing box', fabric drawers, and whatever else you can think of! Sometimes I just look through the 'sewing box' heading and carefully look at pictures of each one, and sometimes looking at 'sewing notions' will give me a hit.
One of my first boxes I found at a huge antique warehouse filled with rows and rows of spaces rented by people in that area (missouri), and when I saw one sitting there, I passed it up at first. BUT, after walking through the entire place, I went back to it and purchased it. It's now one of my very favorites! Sometimes I see them and they have the most hideous fabric on them, so I pass....or it's got a lot of damage, so I'll pass on those too.
I've recently been adding some of those satin quilted dresser boxes that hold lingerie or gloves to my collection because I've found that they are wonderful for my laces! No snags, and they make the room look pretty too! My husband is letting me switch rooms with the guest room and hopefully in the next week or two I'll make the transfer...and oh what a huge mess that will be! But maybe by Where Bloggers Create this summer it will be ready to share with everyone! I hope so! That room is a corner room and much larger and brighter. We almost never have company, so they can just sleep in the smaller/darker room!
I hope you and your family have a wonderful and safe, healthy, blessed new year. Keeping Christ first makes all the difference doesn't it? I wonder how people make it through the day without Him...literally...how??? I'm so thankful I can always go to Him with every thing. And KNOW that He hears and is there for me.
    Blessings to you and yours,
    Doni

  3. Betsy, do you happen to know where I can find the sheet music to that Silent Night Lullaby? I have been searching for it for 10 years after singing it in a high school choir! That's what led me to your lovely blog. Any direction would be very appreciated.

      I found a link!

      https://www.quarternote.club/christmas

It does not have the two parts on the descant that his original version had, but if you are interested in tha, there is also a similar version on

and anyone else looking for this music! Please contact me if you are also looking for this music. I ams o glad that my blog has helped a few of you find it!

  4. Hello, Marc!
I have had it for years, the original trial piece that he let people copy. I have found it on ine where you can purchase it, but I can't find the link right now! I will check my other computer and get back to you. The version I originally had is Soprano/ Alto and the men singing the Silent night part. Is that what you are looking for? I do know that he produced another version in the last year or two that has four parts to it. I still love the original most. Please contact me at the email on the left side of my blog and I will let you know through email where you can find that information.
Our family loves this song...we have been singing it for years, as well!
    Betsy
